HOUSTON—CHI is expanding into the home appliance game, and that's translating into new jobs in the Houston area.

CHI, known for their flat irons and hair care products, is set to debut a line of home appliances designed by former NASA scientists.

What's more, they're going to make them at the new CHI factory in Humble.

“We take anyone that walks in that's really looking for a job and if they've got the qualification then they've got a job with us,” said CHI President Shauky Gulamani.

The company plans to hire 5,000 new employees over the next five years, and they're not just looking for factory workers.  Gulamani said they're also hiring scientists, engineers, electricians and administrative support.
